The Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA's) are L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. Muscle tissue is largely composed of these three amino acids, which are used for energy production and protein synthesis.
BCAA's are also involved in the metabolism of neurotransmitters, the natural chemicals in the brain that influence mood and mental function.
Long chains of molecularly bonded individual amino acids form protein. The body must first break down these molecular (peptide) bonds for amino acid absorption to take place.
Solgar®'s free form amino acids are already in their simplest form (no peptide bonds), and can be readily absorbed into the bloodstream.
